This article introduces the different parts of the Player configuration setup page to help you find your way around the Wowza Video user interface. 

• General
  • Name – A short, descriptive identifier for the player configuration that differentiates it from other player configurations.
  • Playback 
    • Autoplay – Specifies whether the video starts playing automatically when the page loads. Some browsers and most mobile devices only allow muted autoplay. 
    • Muted – Specifies whether the video starts playing with the sound turned off. 
    • Loop – Specifies whether the video should play continuously. 
    • Autopause – Specifies whether the video pauses automatically when the player is scrolled off the page. 
    • Rewind – Specifies whether the video returns to the start and displays the poster image after the initial play is complete.
  • Preload configuration 
    • None – Default. 
    • Metadata – Specifies that the metadata only should be preloaded into the player.
    • Auto – Specifies that all the content is preloaded. Note: This option can consume a high amount of bandwidth usage on page load. 
  • Starting quality – Sets the quality of playback for streams that have multiple quality renditions. Most Wowza Video streams and videos provide multiple quality renditions.
    • Auto – Default. The player determines the best quality to use. 
    • Low – Specifies that the player uses the lowest quality stream rendition. Useful when you want to reduce the data traffic used.
    • Medium – Specifies that the player uses the middle range quality. 
    • High –Specifics that the player always uses the highest quality rendition. This can increase data traffic and deteriorate viewing quality if the viewer's bandwidth can't support the highest quality stream rendition. 
  • Restrict to hostnames – Specifies if any specific hostnames the player should deny access to the stream. 

    Notes:

    • The hostname should be written without protocol or port and should not include the path to a specific page. If your content is accessible with both a www.domain.com and a domain.com URL, you need to enter both versions.
    • If you would like to allow all subdomains you can enter *.domain.com to allow domain.com as well as all subdomains (hosts) of domain.com such as www.domain.com, web.domain.com, sub.domain.com, etc.

  • Ad schedule – Specifies an ad schedule to display pre-, mid-, and post-rolls.
• Player appearance 
  • Play icon – A play icon that appears in the player before the stream begins. Select from the options Solid, Outlined, or, Ring. The default, Solid uses the standard play (solid triangle) icon. Outlined uses an alternate (outlined triangle) play icon and Ring uses an alternate (small solid triangle enclosed in a circle) play icon.
  • Control bar – A control bar that appears in the player before and during playback. Select Thin timeline for a thinner than usual control bar. Select Drag handle to display a pointer that you can use to drag the progress of the video on the timeline.
  • Color – Select the color of your choice to match the player's color (timeline and volume bar) with your brand color. You can also enter the hex code for a specific color of your choice in the textbox.
  • Buttons –  Select the buttons of your choice so they appear in the player during playback. You can select one or more buttons from Volume, Mute, and Fullscreen buttons.
  • Metadata
    • Show title – Select this option to display the title of the live stream or video in the video before the stream begins.
    • Show description – Select this option to display the description of the live stream or video in the video before the stream begins.
  • Language –  Specifies the language to display in the player.
    
    Available languages are: Czech, English, Finnish, French, German, Hebrew, Norwegian Bokmål, Norwegian Nynorsk, Portuguese, Slovak, Spanish, and Swedish.
• Plugins –  Select Add plugin to select available functionality you can add to your player. Once added, many of these plugins allow you to further configure them by selecting Open config. 
  • Thumbnails on progress bar — Included by default. Displays thumbnails when the viewer hovers over the timeline. For videos/VOD only.
  • Sharing –  Included by default. Displays a share menu that lets the viewer share the stream through an Iframe on their own site, a link, Facebook, and Twitter.
  • Quality selection – Lets the viewer select the quality level of a stream when multiple stream renditions are available. Most Wowza Video live streams provide multiple quality renditions.
  • Speed selection – Lets the viewer select the playback speed.
  • Float on scroll – Specifies that the player floats at the bottom left corner of the page if the player is scrolled off page. Only works when the player is implemented using the Javascript embed code.
  • Keyboard control – Lets the viewer control the player through keyboard shortcuts. This feature supports accessibility in your viewing experience. 
  • Chromecast integration –  Lets the viewer cast to a Chromecast device.
  • Airplay integration – Lets the viewer cast to an Airplay device.
  • End screen recommendations — Specifies whether to display recommended videos at the end of video. You can use a playlist to specify the recommendation list or let Wowza Video select the recommendations for you. For videos/VOD only.
