Wowza Streaming Engine Now Available on Google Cloud Marketplace
Wowza Streaming Engine is now available on Google Cloud Marketplace, expanding our existing cloud container options on Microsoft Azure and AWS. These are paid containers, meaning the entire sign-up and billing process happens directly through Google. One of the biggest advantages of using a marketplace container is usage-based billing, allowing you to scale your infrastructure as needed without being locked into monthly renewal fees for servers, hardware, and network maintenance.

Why Use Wowza Streaming Engine on Google Cloud?
On-Demand Streaming Without Infrastructure Overhead
If you only stream occasionally and don’t have dedicated server hardware or network infrastructure, a cloud container is an ideal solution. For example, if you stream just once per week, you can spin up an Engine instance only when needed. Once your stream is complete, you can shut down the instance, eliminating unnecessary costs.
Flexible Content Delivery Options
Wowza Streaming Engine supports multiple CDN providers like Fastly, allowing for public content delivery. If you need a private streaming solution, Wowza includes built-in network infrastructure to deliver streams directly to your users.
Scaling Your Streaming Infrastructure
Temporary Scaling for High Traffic Events
If you already run Wowza Streaming Engine on-premises but anticipate a high-traffic event or temporary demand spike, you can deploy a cloud container to temporarily expand your capacity.
Example Use Case: Handling a Large Event
- Deploy a Wowza container in the cloud to act as an edge or repeater.
- Use it to distribute load across multiple instances for scalability.
- Once the event ends, shut down the instances, stopping billing immediately.
Because billing is hourly and based on machine image size, there are no restrictions on transcoding or usage, making it easy to scale dynamically without licensing concerns.
Optimized Performance with GPU & AMD EPYC Instances
We offer multiple container sizes and instance types in the marketplace, including GPU-enabled instances for demanding transcoding workflows. We also recommend trying AMD EPYC server processors, which provide excellent performance and efficiency compared to other options.
