Top Five Things to Look Forward to at IBC
The International Broadcasting Convention (IBC) is just a few short weeks away! I look forward to this show because of all the different activities, new products, and general excitement there is on the show floor. Here are the top 5 things I’m looking forward to this year. I hope to see you there!
1. IBC Cloud Solutions area
This new IBC attraction features free sessions that explore the latest cloud solutions offered today. The 25-minute presentations will highlight top tier companies that are shaping the way that the industry thinks about and utilizes cloud technology. Wowza Media Systems’ VP of Product Management, Mike Talvensaari, and Senior Product Manager, Philipp Angele, will speak about bringing the benefits of cloud-based streaming to broadcasters and showcase how customer, Camcast, is using this deployment on Monday, September 15 at 2 p.m.
2. Wowza Media Systems Happy Hour
This is an event not to be missed! Mingle with the Wowza team, streaming and video industry leaders, and fellow WowzaNinjas. Starting at 5 p.m. at Wowza stand in hall 3 stand 3.B17 on Saturday, September 14, we look forward to seeing you there! Of course there will be food and drinks to enjoy.
3. DASH Industry Forum Events
Networking Reception: The DASH Industry Forum is hosting a networking reception at the Heineken Brewery on Sunday, September 14 at 6 p.m. This is a great opportunity to engage with industry leaders about the MPEG-DASH standard, media, and streaming. The event is also an exciting way to get to explore the city and the historic Heineken brewery.
MPEG DASH SuperSession: This session will cover the latest advances in the DASH standard and educate them on the deployments being used today. The speakers highlighted will be top executives and engineers who are passionate about innovation and the DASH standard. This session takes place on Saturday, September 13 from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m.
4. Partner demo schedule
The Wowza Media Systems stand will have an exciting new edition this year; it will feature joint demos with Works With Wowza partners. These demos are a fantastic way to see first hand how Wowza integrates with some of the top cameras, encoders, players, and cloud platforms.
5. IBC Seminar Speaking Sessions
The IBC conference programme is extremely diverse and extensive this year. There are many relevant talk tracks that will highlight streaming and give details on how the industry is adjusting and changing to trends. The top categories to look out for are the Strategic Insights and Technical Stream tracks.
Bonus: Exploring the city
Amsterdam is a beautiful city and it’s a real treat that IBC is held there every year. We understand that during show hours it’s time to get down to business, but aside from that there is tons to do. Hopping on a canal ride or taking a walking tour are exciting ways to explore and see the sites. Amsterdam also has an abundance of museums and landmarks that should not be missed.
