6 Things to Look Forward to at IBC2019
IBC is one of our favorite events to attend — and this year is no exception.
As the world’s most influential media, entertainment, and technology show, IBC annually gathers hundreds of influential speakers and thousands of broadcast-industry professionals in one place. The five-day Conference and Exhibition will be held Sept. 13-17 at the RAI Convention Centre in Amsterdam.
Bringing together a collection of industry experts and thought leaders from diverse industry sectors, IBC is brimming with thought-provoking, stimulating, and disruptive conference tracks. One of the most exciting aspects is this year’s theme: Consumers First: A New Era in Media.
Like we said, IBC2019 will be action-packed. Here are six things we’re looking forward to at the event.
1) ProServ Bar
Live video can be difficult. Making sure everything works — across platforms and at scale — takes a lot of effort. Having helped more than 35,000 organizations incorporate live streaming into their business strategy, we uniquely understand these challenges and have the expertise to overcome them.
Check out our Professional Services (ProServ) Bar at the Wowza stand (Hall 14.E08), where our experts will be offering free support, one-on-one advice, and recommendations. Our full suite of customized live video solutions help make live streaming more accessible, easier, and powerful — no matter your industry or use case. Sign up for an appointment here.
2) Unveiling ClearCaster Pro
ClearCaster Pro is a new standard for encoder management and event monitoring that brings higher reliability and streamlined control to broadcast workflows. Ideal for production teams and media groups, the Wowza Clearcaster Pro encoder and cloud-based manager provides teams a single user interface to control, monitor, and automate their hardware encoders and broadcast workflows.
Facebook will have a live production studio powered by Wowza ClearCaster Pro in their stand (Hall 14.B31). This will allow them to create compelling live content from the floor of IBC and deliver the highest-quality streams possible to Facebook Live. Watch for Anthony Lazaro, sr. director of product management, and Charlie Good, CTO and cofounder of Wowza, in the Facebook Live studio on Saturday, Sept. 14, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. discussing the latest advancements of ClearCaster Pro and how it delivers broadcast-quality video to Facebook Live.
3) Speaking Opportunities
Joining industry giants like Microsoft, Google, and Facebook, we’ll be participating in numerous speaking sessions and demonstrations throughout the Conference and Exhibition.
Tim Dougherty, Wowza’s director of sales engineering, will be speaking about Apple’s Low-Latency HLS at the Tech Talk “Low Latency Live Streaming Delivery: What’s Next?” Don’t miss this discussion on Sept. 16 in the Content Everywhere Hub Theatre from 12:30 p.m. to 12:50 p.m. Attendees are also invited to stop by our booth to find out how Wowza’s working to support this technology across our entire product portfolio.
As a preferred Google partner, Wowza will have representation at the Google stand (Hall 14.E01). Through a continued partnership, James Sherry, senior product manager, will present “Reimagine Live Streaming With Wowza Streaming Cloud on Google Cloud.” The presentation will take place at 2 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 13 in the Google Theater 14.E01.
Wowza CTO Charlie Good will also participate in a panel, joining professionals from Haivision to discuss SRT (Secure Reliable Transport), an alternative to proprietary video-transport technologies that’s designed to address the shortcomings of internet-based video contribution systems. The panel takes place on Sunday, Sept. 16, 2019, in Hall 14, Room G104.
4) Microsoft Demo
The application of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning technologies to streaming is gaining steam. Companies are already deploying AI technologies to help with behind-the-camera production work and time-consuming or labor-intensive tasks. However, other applications remain virtually unused — including live video object detection to reduce concerns surrounding privacy and censorship.
At the Microsoft stand (Hall 1.C27), we’ll be demonstrating the Wowza Streaming Cloud™ service with Ultra Low Latency, which is powered by Microsoft Azure. The service can deliver near-real-time interactive experiences. We’ll also be demonstrating artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) capabilities for video object detection in real-time streaming using the Microsoft Cognitive Learning platform. Additionally, Wowza is hosting an “ask an expert developer” Q&A session at the Microsoft booth.
5) SRT Hublet
As one of the two founding members of the SRT Alliance, we’re excited to announce the Wowza Hublet for SRT Hub, powering high-quality, low-latency streaming from any location to any device, anywhere. The Wowza Hublet for SRT Hub was built in partnership with Haivision and Microsoft Azure and works seamlessly with Wowza’s leading streaming solutions. Media and entertainment organizations can now leverage cost-effective, high-quality, reliable streaming to CDNs, private networks, and syndicated delivery to social media platforms.
6) Seeing Partners, Hearing Great Discussions
Finally, we’re excited to hang out with some of our partners. As noted, we’ll be present in the Facebook, Microsoft, and Google stands. Attendees are invited to listen to their amazing speakers and learn what the future of the industry has to offer.
We’ve truly entered a customer-first era in media. By joining us at IBC2019, you’ll see our commitment firsthand, and find out how we’re continuing to push the live-streaming industry forward.
