Demoing VP9 Streaming at the Google WebM Summit
Earlier this week, we released Wowza Streaming Engine 4.2. One of the preview features that I’m most excited about in this release is WebM streaming, which uses the VP8 and VP9 codecs. We were invited to present at Google’s WebM Summit on Wednesday, where I demonstrated VP9 streaming with Wowza Streaming Engine software.
The new WebM format is getting a lot of attention, and we’re excited to keep working with Google on streaming with these new codecs!
I enjoyed the presentations and learned even more about WebM and VP9, and how they compare to other formats and codecs. Wowza Media Systems was one of only a few vendors invited to present this year. We were in the good company at the show with our partner JW Player, as well as Argon Designs, which delivered a great presentation about its Argon Streams VP9 verification product.
Check out our documentation on how to transcode live streams with WebM, VP8, and VP9 in Wowza Streaming Engine software. And take a look at the rest of the new features in Wowza Streaming Engine.
